Seminar Overview

Field Trip and Seminar is one of the memorable experienced I ever had in my life. First of all I am very lucky that I am a part of the class that has the opportunity to experience that others may not acquire. I didn’t expect that this activity would be really successful. The time that I enrol in this subject I feel empty and I just want to comply. We all know that we cannot graduate in our course if we do not enrol in the FTS. Actually that time I think that this seminar is useless and the money that we are paying is not worth it. But the as the time pass by, while preparing in the event little by little I got excited. And now I just realized that the money that we pay is not useless. How can I say that? Because I didn’t expect that this seminar will give us knowledge that we may use in the future. Also this field trip and seminar gives me new experiences that I faced.

It is so challenging in my part, because there is a lot of thing that I don’t know.  During the duration of the trip, I can say that I have been more observant on the things around me. And also this field trip and seminar open up my mind in the thing around me that I do not know. This is a tool for each and everyone to know somehow know what is happening in the outside world most especially in the world of technology.

This field trip also gives me not only knowledge but also enjoyment and relaxation. I can say that for the 5 days I feel that I am happy always. I also created and meet new groups. And I am very thankful for the opportunity of meet new friends from the higher years. Talking to them and sharing new ideas is a great moment for me. Also in the trip I learn to share my knowledge for them, I admit that I am a shy type of person and I don’t usually talk to others. But this trip me change a little of my personality. I have learned to talk and not being shy to share and express what I feel. Thus, I have developed my social communication. I know that this trip so not perfect and there are some things that I do not like. As an IT student I have set standards on the field trip that I want to acquire and I want to see. But in totality, I am satisfied in the result of the field trip.

Also I am very thankful for the success of this subject, for giving me knowledge and for letting me be open minded in the thing around me and in the world. For the five days of staying in the Manila I have learned a lot that I may use in my studies and to my future work.  I would say that this will not last only in my college but also for the rest of my life. I know that this field trip and seminar would not be successful if the officers do not work properly and I want to thank them. Also to our facilitator for their everlasting support and care for us, I can see their effort and dedication in giving us safety for the whole duration of the trip. And for all the parents and guardian who support to us, especially in the financial mater and lastly to our creator for guiding us and protecting us for our trip, for keeping us safe and away from evil. Without the help of everybody, I do not think that this field trip and seminar would be successful.

Day 1
I went on a seminar to the DOST and SSS.

What I learned?

The Department has seven branches and one of it is the Science and Technology Information Institute. We were welcomed by one of the Institute’s I.T experts and he shared us first about his works, what kind of student he was before, objectives and accomplishments of the department and later on proceeded to proper lecture. He also discussed the project NOAH. I was very amazed on this project. I have learned that is not just an application that solved problems in our society but also it is very useful for the people. I was also amaze on the different ways that the Department of Science and Technology monitors the different regions in the water level of the rivers. I have learned that there are different gadgets and censors that updates time to time in monitoring that water level so that people can be alert in times of danger.

We also room around the SSS museum since the seminar was held there. They talk about how they manage their company and accessing their servers and services all over the country. I have learned the different services that they have. Also their goals and history of the company. Also my time is not wasted because while travelling our tour guide tell us the different infrastructure of place.

What I like?

I like when they discussed about the project NOAH they made. It was a perfect project because it was an extraordinary implementation that can help both to the experts in disasters like Phivolcs and to us. And the idea was made when our president request a system that will help determine disasters and calamities in our country. They also encourage us to be part of their team after we graduated in college. And also they encourage us in working with DOST.

I really like when they discussed about the benefits and importance of being a member of SSS. I also like their building it is so big. And also after we visit the two companies, I like the food that we ate in the dinner. The foods there is so delicious especially the chicken and the fried lumpia and many other.

What I didn't like?

I didn't like in SSS that they don't share much about things that are related to our course so that we can learn and improve our understanding in our expertise. I expect that they will let us see their control room that our facilitator told us. If they let us see their control room I am very sure that we will learn a lot from them that I will be able to use in my future work. But unfortunately they do not allow us and just discuss other topics.  What I have seen and learn from the Social Security System (SSS) is not satisfactory.

Day 2
I went on a seminar to the PLDT Company, INNOLAB at Mandaluyong and IBM Philippines at Quezon City

What I learned?

This is the second day of our trip, the class is divided into two groups the bus one will go in the PLDT and the bus 2 will go to the Accenture. And the both bus will go to the IBM.

I was assigned in the bus 1. What I have learned many things at PLDT. They share to us the history of telephones and the internet here in the Philippines.  And how did PLDT develop their technology to serve the needs of the people here in Philippines. INNOLAB facility is a laboratory for innovations and testing of their newly developed systems or machines. They also led us to their technical rooms and explained how it works. Also in the IBM I have learned about Watson and how it works. I have also learned different technique that I may use in the future especially for my thesis. I learned about the bluemix, the creator of the this project is

What I like?

I like the story of their chronological events from the time the company started up to the present. I also like when they presented us the new internet plan which is a fiber connection. And they let us see some facilities with great inventions, and they take us to their conference room, where we can see internet connection all over the Philippines in the big screens, they manage and handle every connection.

What I didn't like?

I didn't like when we can't enter the room with the prototypes have been developed because they have a client in that hour. I want to have the opportunity to see what is inside of the room. I know that if we are allowed to see the room there would be a lot of knowledge and this would be a new experience to us. But unfortunately they do not allow us and as a student I need to understand it. And also the students whose taking up there On the job training, they can't explain to us properly their presentation they make.

Day 3
I went on a seminar to the 13thPhilippine Youth Congress Information Technology (Y4IT)

What I learned?

I went to the 13th Y4IT youth convention at SMX,MOA. It was a great experience because most of all IT students where gathered in one place. I did not expect that there would be a lot of students and experts who joined the event. Some experts introduced some new technology that will be developed soon and new inventions to be created. Our facilitator gave a welcome remark to us. They encourage us to study more and make new ideas to innovate so that we will become successful in our expertise. In this day is such a great opportunity for me and for my classmate. And I am very lucky because I have given a change to witness the sharing of the others.

I have also seen plenty Y4IT exhibitor. I have learned different technology that they want to be known especially in the world of Information Technology. Like the Accenture, upitdc, pldt, KLab cyscorpions and many more. I go to the booths where some big companies introduced their services and they have some small events inside.

What I like?

I like the technology they introduced to us, it is very interesting to use, but for sure it was expensive. I like the speaker who is a game developer, because I want to make games also. He introduced the basics and concepts in making a good and well planned game where the users is satisfied with it.

What I didn't like?

Actually there is no thing that I didn’t like in the Y4IT because I have learned many knowledge that I have acquired. The thing that I didn't like is the bus schedule, too long to wait for our bus to come and pick us. We have a little time going and shopping to MOA.

Day 4

I went on a seminar to the MMDA Traffic Engineering at EDSA, Makati

What I learned?

As all we know, everyday in the news we can see the traffic in metro manila. Inside their control room where they have big screens in which it monitors the city streets by means of a CCTV camera, and under it where the servers and database are located. We saw how they managed the traffic in metro manila. And I was really amazed on the techniques that they have uses to do their task. Also  Enchanted Kingdom, even if it is not related to the learning of our field I have learned lesson that I can keep in my life. One of this is you should not be afraid of the ups and downs in your life. Like I was riding the dangerous and extreme ride in the EK I should not fear on what will happens in my life. You should be fearless and be strong. Also I have remembered my family, in times of riding the rides I always shout the names of my parents. And I have learned that I need to show the love and care to them as long as I am living because there would be no time in showing them how I love them if I will die or vice versa.

What I like?

I like their system in managing the heavy traffic in metro manila and how they monitor their CCTV cameras in certain places, and how they react to certain disasters like car accidents, floods, and etc. They also showed us how they respond to the traffic accidents. It helps them a lot to reduce crimes by monitoring the suspects. They also presented some videos of traffic accidents. It also helps the flow of traffic run smoothly. I also like in the event of this day is the Enchanted Kingdom, because it is a wonderful experience that I will never forget in my whole life. Especially the most dangerous rides.

What I didn't like?

I didn't like some of their sharing because, they always talk and share about the traffic handling, and I am expecting to have some sharing connected to our course.  I am expecting to learn about how they manage their servers, how it works smoothly, and other things. And also, I didn't like the heavy traffic that caused our delay in other place.

Day 5

Last day of our field trip and seminars, I went on a seminar to UP Diliman, Department of Computer Science.

What I learned?

I learned many things inside the computer science department. First they have adequate equipments and facilities and also their standard of teaching. And found out that UP don't have a bachelor of science in Information Technology course. But they have many different programs in which you can choose your own profession. And the students prepare their thesis in advance so that they can research more about it.

What I like?

I really like when the students from different program in the department of computer science shares with us their thesis. Every thesis they present are related to the different programs with unique concept and purpose. They have creative ideas to make an outstanding thesis, and also they still developing and researching to complete their thesis and to develop it.

What I didn't like?
I really don't like when they let us see their facilities in different programs, because they said that the students having their lectures in the facilities. I'm expecting that in different programs they will demonstrate some skills or concept in taking up that kind of program. We are not able to see their thesis and projects that have been already developed, and what kind of technology they are using.

APPENDIX

What can I recommend for the improvement of the advance seminar program of USEP?
What can I recommend for the improvement of the advance seminar program of USEP, is the they must have a clear itinerary. They must choose the best companies that they will choose. So that the student must learn many thing in the trip. Also I hope that each student must come to the meetings so that the

My advice to those who will take their advance seminar program in the near future.

My advice to those who will take their advance seminar program in the near future is they must prepare the money ahead of time so that the class will not have problems in the near future. Also they will need to listen and be attentive in all the happening in the field trip and seminar so that they will know what to write in the travel report. I advice them to take down notes on what they will learn in that day. Also in preparing the papers needed for the trip, each individual must be always updated to the  officers so that the papers will be tack-in and the officers will not be have a hard time in collecting the papers.

Interpersonal Skills and Team Building

We have our Interpersonal Skills and Team Building last July 21,2015 at USEP hostel. I am very excited of the outcome of this seminar so that I can enhance and improve my interpersonal skills by communicating to my fellow classmates and interact with new classmates and to help with group works and I can contribute my skills to present our work remarkably. The seminar starts late because some of the officer haven't arrived yet. So our facilitator Maam Mae start our seminar with a prayer and singing the National Anthem. Maam Mae introduced her self to us and what are the purpose of the seminar.

We are instructed to group ourselves and having a 5 members each group. We are happy because most of us (batch mate) are joined together. And Maam Mae started the seminar with 3 questions that we must fill and share with our groupmates. The 3 questions are: In this seminar, I expect _____ ; In this seminar, I contribute ____ ; How do I feel today?; We are given a piece of manila paper and a pentel pen,  we must write down our answers which the answers are the same with our group mates. So Maam Mae also present a slide with a list of smileys, and we must choose 1 smiley that represents our group, we chose the demure smiley, because we are shy.   We presented our ideas to the other groups, and what we are expecting on this seminar. We have different opinions and different emotions we share in this activity, and we are having fun. So after the activity, Maam Mae presented a picture of an Elephant having many legs, and Maam Mae selects some students on their opinions about the elephant's legs and how many legs are present. Many of my classmates have different answer for that. Also Maam Mae presented a picture of a duck, but most of my classmates didn't realize it, that the picture was a duck. I learned many things in this first activity we had, it was only one picture with many different ideas, opinions, and perceptions. It is the same with our events in life, we have different ideas in many ways, and there are no person with the same ideas to others, because we are not the same. And also being a person and a community to other people, we must appreciate our own uniqueness and appreciate the uniqueness of other people around us. And as a fellow person, we must respect and understand each problem and ideas that they share with us and we must understand their opinions. Because we can't decide the will of other person about their ideas and opinions, because they have different minds and perspectives in life, we must not decide for themselves, because they have the right to give such beautiful ideas and opinions because of their uniqueness and great knowledge. The last thing we must to do, is to accept them as a person who contributed to their community and help through ideas and opinions, and to respect them as a person, and we must understand their feelings and ideas towards many things.

After the first activity, We learned a lot of things, I explained my learning's above this paragraph. So Maam Mae started the session 1 activity.  She starts introducing the house rules that we must follow it and to be part of it. The rules are: clear the decks; participate, for me this is the one of the most important rule that we must follow from the start until the seminar will be ended. Because participating in many activities can gain new friends and also can improve our interpersonal skills; listen, also in order to participate and learn, we must also listen to the facilitator in what they said to us, so that we can understand all the values and the purpose of each activity; share, we must share our skills to others, and also we must share our feelings in each activity we had, so that we can express our knowledge about something special that can help us to develop our interpersonal skills; keep the secrets, this rule must be followed by all of us because all we share must kept in order to achieve our goals; participate, Maam Mae repeat this rule because in order to participate in all activities and to ensure that we can learn many things after the seminar; enjoy/happy , we must enjoy while listening and participating in activities, and also to make new friends; and the last thing is learn, we must learned all the teaching after the seminar in order to improve our interpersonal skills. The title of the first session is " I am Me". We are given a piece of paper, inside of it is a tree with different person; hanging, swinging, alone, playing, lovers, and many more. We must choose a specific person in the tree that represent ourselves. So I was thinking of what kind of person represents me, and I choose the  person who is sitting in a branch thinking deeply and alone. For me it represents me because I am a lonely person, and always chill in all problems, but I myself have many problems inside me, but I show to my classmates and friends that I am still happy. And also I overcome my problems on my own. After that, we are group with another classmates to share our represented person in the tree. In our group, my 2 group mates choose the same person who swing in a branch, and my other 2 group mates and I choose the same person who is sitting alone and thinking deeply. We share many experiences about it and we learn our own perspectives in life. We learned many things about our new friends about their experiences why they choose that person. After the activity, " I am Me ", we are given another sheet of paper and it was a poem entitled I am Me, we read it all, and Maam Mae explained it all the special phrases and sentences in every paragraph. The poem is all about one self that for me it describing me as a person, and how I interact with other people and things, and all experiences we can share and experienced in our future life and nowadays.

After the session 1 , Maam Mae and we take our break and have a snack, our snack is a bread and a C2 solo. It was a delicious snack. And after we take our break, Maam Mae present a dance. It called " Skeletal Dance ". We are instructed to dance the skeletal dance, it was very awkward to dance it because I think its a lame song, but when we started to dance the skeletal dance, we are enjoying our own movements and my classmates movements. We are laughing about it. And after dancing the skeletal dance, Maam Mae started Session 2 entitled "Roots and Wings of my person-hood". So at first I am thinking what is this activity all about. From the title itself, roots and wings are like the branches and offspring of a family tree. Because in a family tree it is a picture of your whole family or the persons in which where they come from, and also where I am belong. And also a family tree represent family relationships and how they are connected to each other and to other person in our society. So Maam Mae started telling us about a dining table in which our each family eats together, and talk to each problems inside and outside their home. In a dining table we all have a specific place where we sit and enjoy our own meal. Maam Mae give us a clean sheet of paper and instructed us to draw our own dining table with our family. We must draw our members of the family through a symbol, and why you draw that particular person that kind of symbol, what is the purpose of every family members in your dining table and not just in dining table, but the purpose of having a good family. We get a lot of crayons and started to draw my own dining table. My dining table is a rectangular shape, and I draw my self as a star symbol, because Im the youngest grandson of my grandfather and grandmother. And for me Im the best in my house. I draw my grandfather as a sun, because he is the one who cooks our every meal. And also we quarrel many times especially when eating. I draw my grandmother as a heart symbol. Because she serves as my second mother since my father and mother died when I was still a kid. I really love my grandmother but I can't say it to her, because I am shy. There will be a perfect time so that I can say to her my true feelings. And the last one is my cousin, I draw him as a smiley symbol, we are not very close but we spend our childhood in the same house, but he is married now and go separate ways from our grandmother and grandfather and our home. And after we draw our dining table with our family members, we must share it to our group mates, we are group again into 4 members each.  We started sharing our drawing, and we know the experiences of each of my group mates. They said all their problems inside their family, and they got a perfect and complete family. Not like me I dont have my mother and father anymore. After we share our experiences, I can feel their feelings towards it. And by looking into some other groups, some are seriously sharing their emotions, and expressing them to their groupmates, and i saw somebody crying. I know her feeling just like me but I just keep it by myself. After the 15 minutes discussion and sharing of our dining table with our groupmates, we are instructed to post our drawing in the boards, and after posting it, it called an "Art Gallery" , and we see different kinds of dining table, different kinds of symbols and expressions, and their family members. I saw a lot of complete family, and some of my classmates started to cry. There are different emotions of every person, and we don't know each of their problems in life, we must understand them, and try to comfort them with our best to support them in needs of help about their big problems in life, in order to help them to overcome it. And after the Art Gallery, Maam Mae asked us , what we felt by making the dining table. Maam Mae interview some of my classmates and tell their story and their feelings towards it. The lesson I learned in this activity is that our family has shaped the person that we are.

The last session , is a teamwork activity,  We must represent our group's identity by singing, dancing, acting, and many more. Maam Mae call a representative in each member and draw a piece of paper from her hands. Our group choose the paper with dancing. So we must present our identity through a dance. So we are given a time to think and to practice our dance. And after some minutes, we started to present it, each of the groups present very well and they are all talented. After we present, Maam Mae asked about the contribution of each of our members. Maam Mae also talked about the 7 functions, Maintenance functions. Also Maam Mae present a short video clip about the wisdom of geese, its all about a life of a geese. She share also the self oriented functions. Maam Mae ended the seminar with questions: are we satisfied?; contribute well?; how do you feel?; And also we learn a lot of things and to improve our interpersonal skills. And she ended the seminar with the commitment, we light our candles and pray and say our commitments. I learned, develop, and enhance my interpersonal skills and to interact with new faces, new classmates, and new friends.

My first plane ride

When I was still a freshman, way back 2013. When I first saw the curriculum for Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) . My mind stops when I saw the subject Field Trip and Seminars. So I was wondering if this subject Field Trip and Seminar is just like the field trip when I was a kid in elementary days. And I get excited about it and asking my other classmates about it. Then we and my classmates decided to ask the higher years about it. They said that the Field trip and Seminars will be conducted in the Manila. And I was excited because if you go to Manila, the only fast way to go there is to ride an airplane from Davao City to Manila. Then years passed by, and now I'm taking up this subject Field Trip and Seminar and this is my second and first flight outside Mindanao. In such a way that I ride on an airplane once when I was still a baby, I can't remember a thing, and this is my first time to ride an airplane with knowledge where I can remember this big event of my life. And I was excited for some seminars in Manila where my skills and capabilities will be enhanced. Flying for the first time as an adult can be nervous and exciting. And it is hard to know what I'm expecting outcome from it, and even the small problems we will encounter will be stressful and challenging.

I must remain calm and always be prepared, and I expect many outcomes of this trip, because this is my first flight outside Mindanao to learn more about my course and to go to different big companies around Manila. I must relax and wait until that day come. I asked people, who always ride an airplane and their experiences and what to do, and they tell me also their first time in riding an airplane, they said it was fun and exciting. With their stories I have somewhat know what is an airplane. I admit that I am excited of the said activity, not only on myself but also to my classmate that would also join the trip. One of the most amazing part is the fact that we are going to Manila as our major field trip and I and my classmate will ride a plane

The most important thing inside an airport is the best security they have at the airport because every hour many people come to check in and out and many airplanes go depart and land, so it is expected that your luggage will be thoroughly checked before coming in as well as you who will be boarding in to avoid issues regards to your flight. They said that everyone will pass through an X-ray & your luggage too. To check if you have an items or things that is prohibited to bring to the other cities and countries, especially inside an airplane. They said also that you have to remove your shoes, belt, keys, coins inside your pocket and mobile phones and tablets are being placed in a small basin & it will pass also through an X-ray. If the airport security finds no problem then you’re in, however if the security detects something different like sharp objects or guns in your luggage then you will face many guards and arrest you. Then after that you will be waiting at the gate specified in your boarding pass & wait until the gate opens for boarding. They also said that take sure to empty your bladder before boarding and I don’t know why and what is the reason about it. People must listen carefully to the announcement inside the airport especially when you are boarding because it is the common problem to the people who is first timer to board an airplane and sometimes without knowing the airplane you must take left you behind. And of course I would listen carefully to the announcement so that I would not be unacknowledged on the things to do inside the airplane.

My friends always said to come to the airport early so that you won’t be cramming around if you are late and your plane already take off. For domestic flights you are expected to come 2 hours before your flight & for international flights, you are expected to come 4 hours before your scheduled flight. And the president of our subject Field Trip and Seminars, that our flight must be too early, because we are expected to attend a seminar at exactly 7 or 8 am in the morning, and we are expected to come to the airport at 2 or 3 am. To avoid paying excess baggage, make sure that you will bring only the exact weight allowed by your airline. Avoid bringing items that are not allowed in the airport so that you will have a comfortable flight ahead. And make sure that you bring the important things just like for an examples, we are required to bring formal attires to visit big companies. And of course before going out in my house I will assure that I will bring nothing that can harm me, so that I would not be a burden to others. And I’ll assure that I would not be late because the plane would not wait for you. Thus, I must be in time, or much better that I would be more advance in going to the airport.

I hope that my first flight experience will be exciting and fun, and also I am well prepared for the incoming seminars I am going too. They said that expect to experience dry skin and swollen feet when you’re on a plane. This is due to the low cabin pressure which can lead to water retention, which in turn can cause your feet to swell. But I am not scared with it, because it is just a small problem to worry. And I laughed that they said that to prevent it, is to buy in-flight socks, which provide an even pressure distribution to prevent swelling around the ankle. Well, I don’t have time for that some things to buy and wear. I must be focused on the things I must do in order to learn new great ideas and become successful in life. And I expect that I will not become dizzy when riding a plane, because I didn't know the situation inside a plane yet, but I become dizzy anywhere when I have headaches or I am not feeling well.

I expect that the take-off and landing of the plane will probably be the most exciting and scariest parts, because like in the movies, when the plane first accelerates, the cabin slightly shakes, and you’re pushed back into your seat by the force. It is just like breath taking experience. And when you land, the reverse happens when they put on the brakes after the plane touches down- you’re forced forward in your seat. And also thanks to the seat belt so that your head and your body will not be shaky.

The flight and boarding a plane itself is relaxing and exciting. Be sure to have a headset so that you can listen to your playlist in your phone. It will help you to become calm and think peacefully while the plane is ready to land.Always listen to the flight attendants telling you about the safety precautions inside the plane and follow their rules just like for an example, that you must turned off all your mobile phones, tablets, gadgets, and laptops, so that it will not interrupt the signal from the pilot to the communication area in an airport to avoid crash and you don't die and check your nearest emergency exits. It is nice to know where they are, so that you are prepared if something bad happens.  If you seat near the emergency exit then you are tasked to be the lead person in case emergency happens, but if you think you can’t handle the task you don’t have to worry because you will not be forced to do so. Large passenger planes are very steady after takeoff. You’ll be able to get up from your seat and walk in the aisle without wobbling. It is not like a bus that if you walk while the bus is moving, you will get dizzy and sometimes hard to walk because of the reverse of gravity, so in that sense it’s even more comfortable than riding a bus or a train. If the seat belt sign comes back on during a flight, it’s usually because the pilot anticipates turbulence. Although turbulence is scary, it’s rarely dangerous. Look out the window and toward the plane wings during turbulence, since the vibrations seem a lot stronger inside the cabin than they really are. There are free pillows, blankets and neck pillows were common amenities, but domestic flights don’t usually offer these things as flights don’t take a long time. It is very costly because are government can't afford such amenities.

When boarding an airplane, my friends said that the food they offered inside has a reputation for being bland or just plain bad. And it is very expensive, so the best option is to wait until you land to your destination. This is often true, my friends tell me to bring a sandwich or other snacks with you, because for sure it will be a long ride for just an hour. If you have special dietary needs, such as being a vegetarian you can call the airline in advance to see if it can accommodate you. The staffs will not be mad at you if you asked them to do so. Most airlines will stock a vegetarian dish upon request. This is applicable for long flights if you go to other country and changing time zones. But for domestic flights there are airlines who don’t offer snacks/meals for free because it’s for sale.  However, other people said that PAL domestic flights offer food for free to passengers.

And also with the help of the flight attendants inside the plane, they entertain you with your travel, so that your flight will not be boring. Some flight attendants sing or dance so that the passengers will be happy and their flight will not be boring. During landing, you will be instructed to fasten your seat belt and be ready, and make sure that your mobile phones and other tables or gadgets is turned off or go to airplane mode so that it will not interrupt the connection from the pilot and to the airport. And after that make sure you didn't leave a thing in your seat and check if you get all your things inside the plane. And then, you have to claim for your luggage in the conveyor designed for your flight. Make sure you got the correct luggage or else you get the wrong luggage.

Travelling across the world via an airplane is exciting because you can go to the other country and experience new things and see new kinds of surroundings and at the same time you can visit the wonderful places in the world. The more flights you’ve got the more it is fun, because you can go to different airports and compare it to the other one, and taking a flight is just comfortable for you just like you're riding a taxi or a jeepney in Davao City. Just follow the instructions and rules inside an airport so that security guards won’t doubt and arrest you. You can also sleep while having a flight, and sleep peacefully and comfortable, and dream as you living in heaven. Riding a plane with your friends would such be a great experience. It is indeed a historical event in my life, and I know that I would never forget this. I expect that I would learn a lot from the trip. I expected that I would develop my skills.

Model A

There are a lot of things that you need to learn from the outside world. Because there are things in this world that it is not need to teach from our teacher, it is you who need to discover it. And in my day to day experience I have learned a lot of things even if no one taught me, it is just I learned all by myself. When there are things that I am curious of, I find ways how I could learned that thing.

While studying I know that I am developing my skills and talents. And because of this I have also discover my hobbies and the things I want to be in the future and what would be my profession someday. And I have decided to be an IT professional. When the time I have decided to take up the course Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) to be an IT expert in the University of  the Southeastern Philippines (USEP). I have reviewed the details of this course, and in the bottom part of the prospectus there is a subject Field Trip and Seminar (FTS).

In that moment, I was excited of what will happen to that subject. It is a three unit subject and the prerequisite of this subject is you must be a 3rd year standing. I think different event that might happened in that activity. Like in the past experiences when I was in elementary and secondary I have joined plenty of Field trip when I was a child. And with that experience I have learned a lot a one day activity. Even if it is only a one day activity, the fun and learning’s I have acquired is lifetime. We go in different places such as museums, science Centrum, and parks. And as the years past by I have heard different reaction and shared experiences of the higher year. They told that the field trip and seminar is held out of the town, in Manila to be exact. I wonder if the seminars will be just inside and around Mindanao. And now as a third year student I must take up the subject Field Trip and Seminar (FTS) because I need to learn more and enhance my skills through this seminars.

In the month of February we elected our class officers so that there will be persons who can manage the said seminars. And they have also introduced what is the course about. They let us fully understand that there is a Model in the said activity. There are three model presented to us. Model A compose of 1 Major Fieldtrip (outside Mindanao) + 1 minor fieldtrip (within Mindanao) + 1 seminar (National) + 2 hrs interpersonal skills. While in Model B it is compose of 1 Major Fieldtrip (outside Mindanao) + 2 minor fieldtrip (within Mindanao) + 2 seminar(8hrs , within Mindanao) + 2 hrs interpersonal skills. And lastly the MODEL C which is compost of 3 Minor fieldtrips (Mindanao) + 4 seminars a total of 16 hours (Mindanao) + 2hrs interpersonal skills. With this model we need to explain it to our parents or guardian what would they choose to the model presented.

I presented the model waiver to my guardians and aunt.  And explaining the purpose of this subject and explaining the three models presented to us. Well,  my grandmother won't agree with the Model A because of the cost, but my aunt said that I'll be choosing the Model A. And I'm so very happy about it, not because of the trip and having fun, and also not because of going to Manila. But I want to explore outside Mindanao so that I can observed and what kind of living they had, and seeing big companies that contributed in the Philippines.

For me, Choosing Model A is the best choice. Because Model A, B and C has the same cost, and exploring Manila will be nice. Because around Manila, there are many big companies and joining some events will enhance my capabilities and skills. Some of these big companies are developing high tech technology to be presented in the whole world, and improves the system of our country.
Also, we can meet different people who become successful through developing technology and become well known  throughout the country. I'm looking forward for the first event that will be held around Mindanao, and joining their events and conference about developing skills and be a professional as we graduate in this university. And I'm excited about joining seminars so that I can learned many things about Information Technology, and making a future plan to my career as I pursue my goals. Joining these seminars, visiting companies, visiting schools, we are going to have some unconference with other students in Manila. Our facilitator encouraged us to fight them with our best ideas, and fight as a group and help each other.

This subject, Field trip and Seminars, must be taken well prepared as well as choosing Model A . Because It's our chance to find good opportunity in some big companies around Manila. And some events of Model A is having an interpersonal skills. I'm looking forward to it, because it can develop my communication skills to communicate and interact with some big time people and soon talk about business with them.

Their are reasons why I chose Model A and I'm worried for some things. It is quite expensive for me, because I enrolled to this school to learned and because of low tuition. But this is a subject for us to find opportunities inside and outside Mindanao in the near future. And through these seminars around Mindanao and Manila, we will learned and we will apply our knowledge to create and to develop our own system or new technology to be contributed in the world. And mostly, choosing Model A is the best, because of more opportunities to be offered to us and we can learned many things from it. In Model B, and Model C, we can learned many things too but Model A offers the best for us to explore and learned new concepts and ideas from different big companies and people.
